1. You need to put these results into a table in a new excel file. Save the file as 'Maths test' in your documents.
Make sure you put the headings (name, score (%)) at the top
- Sarah 42.4%
- Bob 12.222%
- Lise 76%
- Roy 55.4%
- Debbie 89.789%
- Bailey 34%
- Chase 62.201%
- Warren 41.9%
- Parker 5.89%
- Dawn 99.1%
- Rachel 23.44%
- Charles 57%
- Adrian 87%
- Lisa 71.111%
2. Once you have put these into a table, make sure it looks good - bold the headings, add borders and colour.
3. Look at your maths score values - some have lots of numbers after the decimal point (.) and some have none. We want them to be all the same. Hilight all your numbers, and look for a button at the top that will change the numbers after the decimal point. Change it so all the values have only one number after the decimal point.
4. Then you need to calculate some numbers using formulas. Remember that formulas always start with =, and you can use words to tell excel what to do e.g.
=average(F11:F14)
This means use a formula (=) to calculate the average of the numbers in cells F11 to F14.
For your scores, use formulas to calculate the average score, lowest score, and highest score. Add these to the bottom of your table.
5. Create a column graph of your results, including the average. Make sure you:
- take away the legend
- Put an appropriate title, and label each axis.
- Change the colour of the bars, so that the average bar is red, all students who are above average is green, and those below average are yellow.
6. Now you need to put all of your maths scores into order, from lowest to highest, BUT you need to use excel to do this, not cutting and pasting. Try hi lighting all the scores, then right clicking......
Notice how when you change stuff on the excel sheet, it changes it on the graph for you!
